Description
OTR Media Productions is seeking a high school student volunteer to support a community-focused business research initiative in Brantford.
The volunteer will assist in identifying and organizing information about local businesses that may benefit from media production, branding, and digital marketing services. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to entrepreneurship, research methods, and creative industries while supporting community connection and local economic awareness.
This is a supervised, educational volunteer position intended to support skill development and career exploration.
Roles & Responsibilities
Research local businesses in Brantford across various sectors (retail, restaurants, health & wellness, creatives, service providers, etc.)
Compile business information into a structured spreadsheet, including:
Business name
Contact information
Website and/or social media links
Industry/category
Review and assess online presence (branding consistency, website quality, social activity, use of media)
Identify potential opportunities for collaboration or service support
Organize findings in a clear and professional format
Participate in scheduled check-ins with supervisor (outside of school hours)
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling business information
Note: The volunteer will not engage in direct sales, financial handling, contract discussions, or independent outreach unless supervised.

Required
Current high school student (Grades 9–12)
Interest in business, marketing, media, entrepreneurship, or community development
Strong organizational skills
Basic computer skills (Google Docs/Sheets or Excel)
Ability to conduct online research independently
Professional communication skills
Reliable and able to meet agreed timelines
Preferred but not required:
Interest in creative industries or digital media
Familiarity with Instagram, websites, and basic branding concepts
